Estuary-side salt exposure.

Australind is built along the eastern shore of the Leschenault Estuary, and the mix of estuary and ocean air carries enough salt to corrode cheap antenna heads and unsealed connectors within a few years. The newer estates around Kingston and the older streets closer to the water both see it. Every antenna we install in Australind uses a marine-grade head, stainless-steel fixings and gel-filled weatherproof connectors, because a standard builder’s antenna simply does not last on this side of Bunbury.

Reception across the estates.

Most of Australind sits in solid coverage from the Mount Lennard transmitter, the main source for free-to-air across the South West. The newer estates with their tile and Colorbond roofs are straightforward. A few lower-lying pockets and homes screened by mature trees need a slightly higher-gain antenna or a tidy masthead amplifier to lift the weaker UHF channels, which we test for on the roof before fitting.

Worked example.

A recent Australind job near the estuary: original antenna corroded after five salt-air years, picture dropping out on windy days. We installed a marine-grade phased-array antenna with a small masthead amplifier, weatherproofed the lead-in and retuned two TVs. Total: $480, done in one visit.
